| - Dangerous, Dirty, and Prison Yellow...all you need to know!
I stayed at MainStay Suites Pittsburgh April 26-27. I have stayed in many hotels over the years, and this was my absolute worst experience.
I was assigned to room 338 at check in, went to my room, and the key-card did not work. I returned to the front desk and they rescanned the card. I returned to room 338 and this time the key worked, but to my surprise someone was already in this room! There was luggage in the room, the bed was not made, and clothes were lying out. This is incredibly dangerous. Had a person actually been in the room (instead of just their possessions) it could have lead to a physical altercation.
The front desk then reassigned me to room 337. Once inside the room, I noticed that there was no remote control for the TV, and there were no ashtrays (yes, it was a smoking room). I went to the front desk and asked for a remote control and an ashtray. The woman at the desk told me they did not have a remote, and that I should operate the TV manually via the controls on the side of the set. In addition, they did not have an ashtray.
In addition, there were bags of trash in the hotel hallways, and I spotted a police officer inside speaking with a guest (no idea what he was doing there, but never a good sign).
To top it off, the hotel room was painted "prison yellow."
If it was possible to award zero-stars I would, avoid this place like the plague.
