  • I've been in the market for a new MDX and started conversations with Alex G. at Acura of Peoria. He and I went back and forth via email and text mostly but did have a few phone conversations as well. He sent me a text offering me a great deal. I told him I would purchase the vehicle at the number he gave me. He then asked me if I was going to come down there that evening, in which I responded no. I am a single mother working full time and it's over an hour away. I can't just drop what I'm doing and drive out there. I explained this to him and informed him I was definitely going to buy the car at that price but, wouldn't be able to get there until Friday. Friday comes and Alex eagerly texts me to see if I will be coming in to buy the car. I told him to confirm the numbers. He responded with "nothing has changed". I make the drive out there and, about 15 minutes from reaching the dealership, Alex sends me a text informing me he was sick and he has left for the day but, I can speak with his manager Paul B. who has all my information and all of the number. Here comes the 1st red flag. I arrive at the dealership and I am greeted my a salesman, to whom I can't recall his name so, I'll just call him Mike, and I tell him I'm there to meet with Paul B. Mike takes me inside and gets Paul. Paul comes out of his office and the first thing out of his mouth is "You see that guy right there? He just bought your car. But, I have another one just like it we will bring out in just 15 minutes." 2nd red flag. Paul then goes back to his office while I sit, very uncomfortably, with Mike. 15+ minutes go by and my car is pulled up. I take it for a test drive. Please with the vehicle, I return to the dealership to wait on paperwork. Mike goes to converse with Paul and when he comes back, he starts making various comments that all sound like the set up for an "upsell". "This car has never been titled so it's technically new" and so on....3rd red flag. I then tell Mike, "Look, I worked out a deal with Alex, this is the number we agreed on, you have the payoff on my trade $1,000 higher than it actually is so, I would hope the number out the door on this vehicle would reduce my $1,000, this is my bottom line so, let Paul know" Mike comes back, not even a minute later and tells me that it's not going to happen but thanks for coming out. He said that supposedly they had a buyer for my trade the day we negotiated and that "buyer" backed out. I called BS and Mike, although he didn't directly agree, he did elude to the idea it was BS. This is classic bait and switch. As a previous Acura customer, I'm appalled and offended to have been treated this way. After reading some other reviews, it seems as though others have felt the same way. What happened to me can't be legal. I'm going to explore my options. STEAR CLEAR OF THESE FLAT OUT LIARS!!!
