  • it is important to remember where this beautiful park is actually located. It is in a part of town where there is a high concentration of the homeless who are not shy at all about pan handling. I have tried many times to sit and just enjoy the gardens but have pretty much been chased out by the endless panhandlers and groups of homeless who hang out in the park all day. I am torn between being sympathetic to their lot in life, but frankly if you are looking for a quiet get away this is not the place to go. Today I went to the botanical garden and found it full of not so much street people but just people who found it necessary to chat and cell phone to the point where it was distracting and certainly not relaxing in anyway. Perhaps I am expecting to much. However, with my crazy busy life and living across the street from the park it would be nice if the situation were different.
