| - Been wanting to go to this for ages, and finally got to go with my work crew.
On arrival we are asked to sign our lives away, get a quick instruction course, and a chance to practice.
I used to do archery as a teen, back then I had the same problem of straitening my arm out to much. Hence when I asked for an arm guard I was in return asked for $4 and since they did not take card, and this being one of my "carrying no cash" days" I neglected to get one.
First tip to this place, have arm guards to loan out.
Why....serious bruising from the string and it was not just me, a few others in my group had the same problem. Not sure why the owners of this place want to send their customers away with nasty bruises for the sake of having a couple of cheap ass arm guards for general use.
The arena is a decent enough size, and has a number of inflated barriers to hide behind. There will be plenty of running and sweating so believe me you would not want it to be any bigger.
I agree with Elaine K that the close up targets are okay but having something much difficult like a long distance target would be ideal.
So the equipment, maybe i am just being an archery snob but the majority of bows were not great, there were a few smaller recurves which were okay and easier to use. Many of the arrows had the fletch missing, this made it a pain when in the heat of battle trying to get the arrow nocked in.
They provide protective helmets which do the job fine, however I had plenty of sweating going on, and judging by most of my group so did they. Which means the group after us would have to deal with some slightly moist, stinky even helmets. Not sure after we left and before the next group they wipe out the inside of these helmets. I hope so.
Would i go again, for sure but not before trying out the many other number of archery battle joints springing up.
