  • Oh, my, what a wonderful dinner Thursday night here at Lola's! We decided to go to Lola's at the downtown location because of its proximity to The Smith Center and the good Yelp reviews. Everything was so good, I didn't even pause to take a picture! My dining companion ordered chicken strips and fries with a side cup of red beans and rice. He graciously allowed me a taste of each and everything was excellent! I ordered the pecan crusted trout with Gouda grits and a side salad - absolutely superb! The Gouda grits were a perfect accompaniment to the trout. The pecans fell off the trout into the grits while eating it and added a lovely nice crunch. The Gouda grits come with several dishes and are a must try. In addition, Lola's absolutely knows how to cook fish properly. The side salad was ample and the house dressing spicy and fresh. Lola's definitely is on my "must return" list to try other items on their menu. But I will have to look away from the pecan crusted trout!
