  • I want to share with everyone how San Marin is a health hazard. San Marin management hides toxic mold growth in their apartment units. I have a very detailed mold report to prove this. Back in 2010 when I was having severe health problems and asthmatic reactions near the laundry area of my apartment at San Marin, in apartment #130, I hired a mold expert to come in and do an investigation of the air and surfaces. The investigation exposed the most toxic mold, stachybotrus lurking behind and underneath the walls and flooring around the laundry area. The mold report contains detailed photos of the mold growth that was uncovered. This particular mold causes severe health problems and even death in some people. It made me very very ill. I had no choice but to move out & evacuate apartment #130. The manager at the time agreed to cancel the lease agreement and let me out of the lease with no balance due if I were to move out by a certain date. I complied and moved out of the unit and returned the keys and took detailed photos of the apartment before I moved out. I left it cleaner than it was when I moved in. Several months later San Marin claims I owe over $5,000 to them for breaking my lease! I had an attorney initially. At this point I have to engage in a dispute with TransUnion and provide al of the evidence to include the report showing the presence of TOXIC MOLD in apartment #130. If they don't resolve this issue, I will make everyone possible aware of the presence of toxic mold in their apartment homes. I'll be sure to inform as many people as possible via social media as well. I'm just getting started here on YELP. ***Update: San Marin management tried to justify their unprofessional business practices in their reply here, and of course want to try to blame their mold problems on the resident, which shows they don't put their customers first. The mold report speaks for itself. My washer functioned just fine for me, however I have no idea about the previous resident, so their attempt to blame the resident for mold is useless. Not to mention they didn't honor their written agreement to let me out of the lease with no penalties. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY AND THE UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT. I have been living in several beautiful high rent apartments since living here without any issues. I made the choice to live in newly built apartments to avoid problems common to older apartments like San Marin that are not properly maintained. I'm not worried about the $5,000 they say I owe on my credit report because it drops off in just over a year so it's not worth worrying about, and it hadn't interfered with my ability to live in much nicer apartment homes. San Marin is run down and poorly maintained and the management is unprofessional and doesn't put the residents first.
