Up The River... - River Cafe is perplexing, it has a wonderful location and setting. The cuisine is sometimes innovative and almost always very good. The service, however, is so inconsistent, leaning way more often toward bad than good. The servers there appear aloof and arrogant; as if it's YOUR PRIVILEGE to be SERVED BY THEM. Perhaps it is the uniqueness and solitary honor of being the only restaurant in Prince's Island Park that engenders this deplorable attitude. You'd think they were serving at Tavern On The Green in Central Park. That bastion of NYC dining, however, has even closed, so smarten up River Cafe or you may be headed for the same fate.
