| - There aren't many quality providers in this area of the valley. Stumbling upon Elemental Aesthetics was a miracle. Sorry for the long review, but if you're serious about taking care of your skin, you'll read it!
For years I saw a well-known dermatologist for skin maintenance and treatments, but the practice lost its personal touch (and their location/hours were not realistic for my busy schedule). I was uncertain about switching providers, but Elemental Aesthetics has set a new bar on every front.
1. Staff: For just a second, forget about the doctor who will be treating you (we'll get to that). If I'm a regular visitor, I'm dealing with the practice's management just as often as the provider herself. Things like ease of scheduling, friendliness, and responsiveness really matter. Luckily, their entire staff is outstanding and makes you feel right at home from the minute you schedule your first appointment through the checkout process.
2. Credentials: Your skin is your largest and most visible organ. You don't want someone messing with it unless they meet the most stringent qualifications. Not only does Dr. Swanick have the training required in this field; she goes above and beyond to stay educated on the latest trends and equipment, and maintains her certifications and credentials. (Plus, she's a sculptor, so she gets the artistic side of things.)
3. Holistic care: An an NMD with extensive aesthetic training, Dr. Swanick doesn't just care for a part of your body. She cares for you as a person. In addition to technical skill, that really matters. It's rare, but Dr. Swanick excels in both. She has an exceptional bedside manner and I always enjoy my visits.
4. Ethics: These days, virtually anyone can hang a shingle and call themselves a "med spa." It's easy for dishonest practitioners (yes, even board certified plastic surgeons) to pump money out of unsuspecting consumers with overpriced products and unnecessary treatments. I NEVER feel like Elemental is trying to sell me on something I don't need, or pressuring me into buying. They proactively follow up to make sure I'm satisfied with every visit, and are available for follow-up questions.
5. Tech savvy: This may not matter to everyone, but personally I rely on conveniences like online scheduling, text reminders for appointments, and regular email communication such as newsletters. Way too many practices overlook this, and they are becoming quickly obsolete. The folks at Elemental just get it when it comes to technology, and it makes my life easier.
6. Product: You can bet that if they're selling a particular skincare line, they've thoroughly vetted every individual product for quality and effectiveness. They sell both Revision and Rhonda Allison, so you can create a custom treatment regimen that meets all of your skin's needs, even if one brand doesn't offer 100% of what you're looking for.
7. Results: This is the holy grail. If you are investing in skin care, you need to know that you're getting a return or you are throwing money out the window. Elemental has helped me solve so many skin problems, from texture to discoloration, sun damage, scars, age spots, dryness and more. Since becoming a patient of Dr. Swanick's I've actually started getting unsolicited compliments on how great my skin looks. For someone with naturally bad skin and a lot of stressors that make it worse, this is a huge confidence booster!
Discovering this hidden gem has been a fantastic experience for me. I almost didn't write this review because I was worried that the practice would be overrun by clients wanting the same quality of care, making it tough for me to get an appointment anymore. But I have a feeling that they're going to maintain this level of service even as the rest of you descend upon them.
