Baby and I went for a ride. South Mountain Park holds so many treasures.
My horse Baby, a fine domesticated beast, maybe a 1200 pound gelding who's virtue, complicated nature and physiology served me well. Rode Hideout Loop, an hour long dusty trail that goes up and down. There are beautiful geological formations in this area including 1000 year old petroglyphs, lightening strikes, fauna most notable a mother dove nesting at eye level in a palo verde, just a couple feet away as I rode near her. She watched staying completely at ease.
When I got back there were children and adults all around. As I was walking to each of the horses to say hi and pet them, there were children anxious to touch the horses so I spoke to the kids and encouraged them to pet the animals as I was. The children loved it.
It was a nice morning.
