| - We hired Bark Busters because our dogs started fighting in February of this year. I shopped around at a few and was sold on Derek and Lissette because they said they would always be reachable for the life of the dogs and that their training worked. However, after 3 months and 2 expensive trips to the vet because the fighting got worse, we found out the unfortunate truth that Derek and Lissette would only be there when it was convenient for them or until they gave up.
Bark Busters helped with walk training and food aggression, but did not handle the primary reason for which we hired them and cost us a lot more in the long run.
Both Derek and Lissette could never keep the dogs' names straight. Derek frequently referred to me as "Rita" which is not my name. They also referred to the dogs as males and not females almost all of the time. Upon our last session where we parted ways, Lissette continuously interrupted me when I was telling her about what had been going on with the dogs. She used anything stressful that happened in my life to explain away the fighting behavior which did not boast confidence because my life is not stress-proof. I requested a clear timeline with milestones or benchmarks so we can measure the dogs progress and make sure it was not something beyond bark busters, which she REFUSED to provide. In the end, she recommended we get rid of one of the dogs and gave me a comically aggressive handshake.
Per Derek and Lissette's suggestion, we switched to raw food, bought lavender oil, crates, pumpkin puree, coconut oil and cbd oil for the dogs. We also spent ~$500 on cleaning supplies and were instructed to mop and clean floors every weekend. In total, we probably spent an additional $2000 between vet bills and items recommended by Derek and Lissette.
NONE of these things made a difference in the dogs demeanor or lives, they were just more money and stress on the humans. Additionally, we were instructed by Bark Busters to take away all of the toys and beds.
It got to the point where I felt like I couldn't even treat my dogs like dogs anymore. Now we are in our 12th day of separating the dogs, with no buoy in the ocean and an increased skepticism of dog trainers because of our horrible experience with Derek and Lissette.
Derek and Lissette seem to have their own problems with passive aggressive behavior. Would not recommend.
