Food has been tasty here in the past. Then, this evening we were so disappointed. The calamari appetizer tasted like it was frozen not fresh; the carbonara was dry, too many onions, could hardly taste or see the pancetta; my husband's penne vodka (the special) was watery, not creamy, and required lots of Parmesan cheese to bring out what little flavor that was there at all. Sometimes, restaurants experience a challenging evening. This evening there were few customers to be concerned about. Perhaps the chef was having a bad night. I understand that happens. I am always interested in giving them another chance. However, after we drove one hour back home, and discovered we left our wine bag and two bottles of wine under the table we called the restaurant to ask them to put it aside for us. They said they looked under the table and could not find it. The manager and the assistant who answered the phone acted like they didn't even care and we were a nuisance to be calling and asking for them to check on the whereabouts of our wine. We gave them a second chance by calling again ten minutes later just to see if they had found it. I received the same apathetic attitude. The manager seemed annoyed that I was calling again. I was ready to give the chef another chance, however with the manager and wait staff expressing such a poor attitude, i will take my business elsewhere. And when i compare notes with my downtown friends about Italiani will share the story.
