| - I stumbled upon this cute little bistro by accident. I was shopping in a little strip mall and saw a bunch of people milling around outside and a nice little patio. When I was in the area near lunch time on Sunday, I thought I would pop in with a friend.
The place was packed, but we were able to order drinks at the bar and relax while we waited for a table to be available. I ordered the iced tea, and was surprised to have a tall glass of cranberry colored liquid handed to me. I asked is this iced tea? And they said yes it is white tea, with pomegranate. It was delicious. I did not need to add any sweetener to it. I am an ice tea purest, but this was a nice refreshing change. My companion ordered the bottomless mimosas and enjoyed several.
This restaurant is Jamaican and Cuban inspired. It is not a fusion restaurant but these elements are a part of each item they prepare. My companion ordered the Cuban pulled pork with egg, she enjoyed it very much. she said it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the BLT, which was huge. I actually had to deconstruct it to eat it. The bacon was jalapeƱo bacon, A nice crisp bacon with a tiny bit of bite! Instead of mayonnaise they used a chipotle sauce, sparingly used but had a Ton of flavor.
For dessert, we shared a piece of carrot cake. It was amazing. Full of shredded carrots and real cream cheese frosting with shreds of white chocolate on top. I could barely eat a few bites because it was so rich! My companion managed to polish it off.
Not to be excluded, the service was great!
I would highly recommend DW Bistro for brunch, I would really love to go back during the week and try other items on their menu. Perhaps something with a Jamaican flare next time!
