| - Excellent drinks in an interesting venue--the musty basement of an old church replete with stained-glass windows, stone walls, and tables of reclaimed wooden doors. Staff was knowledgeable and demonstrably take their cocktails seriously. I enjoyed the shot-and-beer pairings, particularly the "His Parents Were Eaten By A Bear," a honey-flavored shot paired with Two Brothers' Domaine DuPage French Style Country Ale. The consensus at the table, however, was that the entire menu of drinks tended to be sweet, which probably makes it more generally appealing to the public at the sacrifice of balance.
Of the limited food options, the Bread-and-Butter Pickles were very good (again, on the sweeter side). On the other hand, the stale chips with salsa should be avoided.
Not your everyday drinks and not your everyday bar, but a cool place visit, imbibe, and see how fast your cell phone can pull data with 0-1 bars.
