  • Big Lots may be a big joke in some circles, but I love me some values! Compared to other Big Lots I've visited, this one is pretty clean and the staff are rather nice. The selection is kinda spotty, but they have some unique things that you can regularly find: 1. Quality furniture and home decor-Think Pier One or Crate n Barrel fo' cheap! You never know when they'll get a shipment from a prestigious furniture maker, like Broyhill. Patio furniture too, in the summer months. 2. Boxed rices, meals, coffees, and juices. You won't recognize the brands, but the flavor is comparable to name brands in these depts. at 50% less. 3. Cheap electronics. I bought a mp3 player for $8 one time, a knock-off Bluetooth for $10, and Kodak 12 megpixel camera for $80. No joke. 4. Plastic bin, boxes, and assorted Rubbermaid storage containers. Random I know, but helpful to know when you stumble over household clutter. 5. Recent best-seller books for $5-$8. Cookbooks, health books, and vast children's board book collection. Big Lots is a whole lot of randomness. If their are spectacular deals, they are usually swiped up fast. The lack of consistency caused me to pull them down a few stars. But, if you're bored and in Matthews, give Big Lots a try. You never know when you'll find a knock-off Snuggie or a TV-VCR-DVD-STEREO remote control for "poco dinero". Happy deal hunting, tightwad!
