| - Well against my better judgement I had the AAA tow driver (who was excellent) just transport to my DOA car the closest AAA shop because it was obvious what was wrong since I was staring at a radiator hose that had broken off the top of my radiator and coolant running everywhere. My normal mechanic was already booked that day I figured, and I just wanted the simple service done. A service advisor called me from AAA, one I had previous unsatisfactory dealings with (I usually remember the rude ones). Low and behold, all was well and cheery until he dropped a $800 quote on me for a simple radiator repair on a 14 year old vehicle. While waiting for the estimate, I did some due diligence and had just called the local parts chain as a reference and the radiator from them was $150 with Lifetime parts warranty. The AAA SA even got defensive and I would even say "pissy" when I balked at his estimate as being seemilngly excessive. I told him I was going to have AAA retow the vehicle to another shop after I did some checking on his estimate, to which he promptly slammed the phone down. BTW, my Independent mechanic who I know I can trust and has served me well for years, did the same repairs, flush, new thermostat, cap, blah blah blah for under $400 with a lifetime warranty on all parts. Never again will I step foot in this place, the customer service was horrible and the prices were ridiculous, and I just don't personally trust them anymore.
