| - be veryyyyy cautious about bringing your car here for ANYTHING. This is a long story so bare with me: I went to this Pep Boys for a simple oil change... while waiting, I was having a conversation with Terry (the gentleman that works up front), and the mechanic came out to the front to tell Terry that he accidentally broke my upper radiator hose (keep in mind, the mechanic did not know it was my car... he was just telling Terry and I over heard him).... so when he announced that, I spoke up immediately and said, "that's not a problem as long as it gets fixed, mistakes happen".... so about 15 minutes pass since that announcement was made, and then Terry came and got me in the lobby area and asked for me to follow him into the back to "check something out". When we got to my car in the shop area, Terry proceeds to ask me "how long have you had this car?". I told him 4 years and asked why? He then proceeded to tell me that the upper radiator hose on my car had been broken before and that whoever fixed it did an awful job.... that's when I started to get suspicious. I said, "ok, what does that mean"... he then tried to play it off that they didn't have the part to fix it in the shop and it would be much easier for me to go and buy a new upper radiator hose and install it myself. THIS is when I realized they were trying to get out of a mistake that THEY CAUSED!.so I looked at Terry and the mechanic and said "well when I came in here today for an oil change...was this part broken?". They both look dumbfounded that I responded in that way. They did not immediately answer the question, so that's when I said, "no it wasn't broken until HE (I pointed at the mechanic) SAID that he broke it. so this is why I am not paying for anything and you WILL fix it.", that's when I just walked inside and sat down. After about 10 minutes, the manager came up to me in the lobby and apologized and said that they would fix it at no cost. GREAT RIGHT?!... yes and no. Since they did NOT have the part I needed and they had to order it... they said they were going to give me a temporary fix to get me home for the night, and then I could come back in the morning and they would fix it then.... "ok, that works as long as I can get home", I said. well they did make the temp fix, but unfortunately when I got about 3 blocks away from Pep Boys, my car SEVERLY overheated and broke down. When I called the shop (Terry answered) I told him what was wrong and that I was coming back to the shop. Terry then actually said they just received my part!.however he said that ALL the mechanics went home for the night.... (This was approx. at 5:28pm and they are scheduled to close at 6pm)... so now I am stuck on the side of the road, and have to get towed back to the shop. Luckily, I have a friend that lived down the street that could pick me up and let me stay the night with him, as I live about 30 miles away.(I was in town getting a suit fitted for a wedding, so I decided to knock out another chore and get my oil changed). Now I slept on my friends couch that night, and woke up the next day and headed straight to Pep Boys... they did fix my car and it ran great for about 3 days.so 3 days after getting my new upper radiator hose installed, I was on my way to work on a VERY busy highway during morning rush hour when all of a sudden, my car lost power and started to overheat very badly again. So I pulled over and called my friend for a ride AGAIN. I then called Pep Boys and told them what was wrong and that I was having my car towed back for them to check it out. I spoke with Terry again and he told me that once they figured out what was wrong, that he would call me back. So about 3 hours later I received a phone call telling me that my water pump has gone bad. I said, "Ok, do you think that could be a result from the car overheating previously?".Terry replied, "absolutely not." Now, I am not a mechanic, but I am a 30 year old man, and I know a little bit about cars..so I DO KNOW that the water pump is directly connected to the radiator and all of the coolant systems! HE LIED STRAIGHT TO MY FACE.. AGAIN!..So I said, "Ok, let me do some research and I will call you back." I then called the BMW dealership and had them write me a letter stating that the water pump would be affected and will go bad due to prior overheatings. So when I called Terry back and presented him with the evidence and told him I don't think I am (remember... all I went in for originally was an oil change, my car was running PERFECT before going to this Pep Boys), Terry told me that he would have to speak with his manager. They then informed me that they would only cover half of the bill. I refused and asked to speak with the general manager. once I presented him with the evidence he did decide to pay for all the repairs! however, I am still dealing with a constant coolant leak (that never happened before) and my check engine light is on. NEVER DO BUSINESS HERE.
