  • I took my dog to Dr. Song about a month and a half ago. About $1,000 later spent at Animal Dermatology, she is sicker than ever and come to find out after rushing her to the animal hospital last week, she wasn't even diagnosed properly. I took her to Animal Dermatology because I was almost positive she had a bad environmental allergy and my vet suggested I should take her to a specialist. She went in with a really pink chest, hot spots and some bald spots on her backside. I wished I would have done more research on where to take her because now she is full of open sores around her entire head and can barely move. Her first visit was less than 15 minutes and all he did was say she had an allergy and prescribed her meds. He didn't do any tests to see what her allergies were or anything. We left with a bill of over $200 and were out the door. She went back 3 more times (each appointment being 15 minutes or less and just higher dosages being prescribed) because nothing was really solving the problem and she only seemed to be getting worse and worse. The last time I took her there I was very frustrated because we were spending all this money to help my dog and nothing was being solved. He took her for a blood test about 5 minutes in to the appointment to test her white blood cells without even consulting me and when they rang me up it was a an extra $200 for the test (I walked out with a bill for over $400 that day). Finally, about a week later I rushed her to the animal hospital because she woke up whimpering and could barely move. The hospital held her for 4 hours, did extensive testing, cultures and skin scrapes. Come to find out she had a horrible bacterial infection and a severe case of MITES. How scary to hear being a pet owner and feeling so helpless/unsuccessful in trying to help your fur kid. They said allergies are probably a secondary condition she has but her primary problem is mites and that has been what has caused her skin to deteriorate over the last month and a half. Dr. Song didn't even take the time to really understand her situation or her skin. I would never in a million years recommend this practice or Dr. Song unless you wanted to spend an arm and a leg to put a band aid on a bullet hole. Do the research and find a more qualified doctor that actually cares about your pet.
