I was in the neighbourhood taking a weekend course and was scouting for quick coffee fix. I had almost walked passed the Cake Town Cafe (it was so inconspicuous!), when I did an abrupt stop and headed inside and boy oh boy, I am glad I did. The staff was openly friendly, the latte was piping hot and delicious and I came back that day for lunch: a delicious turkey and mustard panini with a bottle of sparkling water. Okay, so it was a bit pricey at $10.00; but I would pay that for fresh, tasty food and a calm, pleasant ambiance over a crowded Megabucks any day.
So for the reviewers who whined about the lack outlets to plug your laptops while commandeering a table for several hours, sipping a coffee...please do go to Megabucks and veg away at leisure to "get sh!t done". And for those who bemoan about the goods not being baked on site....well, guess what...Megabucks and other similar establishments do not make all of their goods on site, they remove the plastic packaging and warm it up in an industrial oven/microwave (OH THE HORROR).
I would definitely recommend meeting up for a brunch at Cake Town Cafe. The whole "feel good" vibe is quite nice and they have beautiful paintings from local artisans hanging about that you could purchase if interested.
