Ummmm Chocolate!!
One of my friends have been dying to come try the hot chocolate here since her friend raved about how good it was to her. So while we were wandering downtown a few Saturdays ago, we stopped in for a break and some drinks.
I got the Spicy Mayan Hot Chocolate made with water and a Cafe Affogato made with an Espresso Shot for the BF and I to share. While my other 2 friends both got a Hot Chocolate made with milk.
The Spicy Mayan was very good and unique, chocolaty with a kick of spice. It was not too sweet, and not too heavy since I got it made with water. I liked it, but no one else in my party seemed to like it. The Cafe Affogato which is my go to dessert treat was good as well. How can vanilla ice cream and espresso not be good together. The BF who has never had it before was a big fan of it. My other 2 friends really liked their hot chocolates made with milk as well. I took a sip from one of their's, and it didn't taste as chocolaty. Don't know if it's because I drank the Spicy Mayan first and the flavour overpowered the regular hot chocolate or because it was actually less chocolaty.
I have been to the SOMA at the distillery district before, and I like this one on King much better. Less crowded and more laid back. Although not as many choices available for the gelato. We sat at one of the tables in the back and the noise level wasn't too loud, good for conversations. Although it got occasionally noisy when they were making drinks at the bar.
