  • Los Olivos ruined one of my tires yesterday and the owner (Coletta Spurling) refused to help me. I stopped in yesterday after driving home from Surprise to Central Phoenix (this becomes important later). The moment my car came out of the wash bay I noticed the damage to my front driver side tire. I instantly went and got the owner, Coletta. She came out and her immediate response was "I have owned this place for 4 years and this has NEVER happened". I tried to reason with her and explain what I thought could have happened. I brought her over to the wash bay and showed her the track that holds the driver side tire and how I thought they may have accidentally got my tire too close to the edge of it (the very end of it has a sharp plastic corner on it). Her response was, "The guy that puts these cars in the bay has been here for 20 years and this has NEVER happened". I have posted pictures of the damage on the Yelp business page for Los Olivos: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/los-olivos-hand-car-wash-phoenix?select=agqiRcNYAjNTu__GwJy3pQ#mlpgyttj2S16NDPSHeijaA http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/los-olivos-hand-car-wash-phoenix?select=agqiRcNYAjNTu__GwJy3pQ#uupTaEiatTJNXFRcvq56xQ http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/los-olivos-hand-car-wash-phoenix?select=agqiRcNYAjNTu__GwJy3pQ#H1QSQQPfbjYHPdn_O4EkiA The damage went all the way around my tire (and I literally mean almost the full 360 degrees). In the pictures, I included the lettering on the tire so everyone can see the damage on opposite sides of the tire. After trying to convince Coletta that I could not have just made it from Surprise to where I was at on this tire, she walked away while I continued to ask her what I was supposed to do. I am a former mechanic and I would have never let one of my customers drive out with a vehicle in such conditions. It was an absolute safety hazard. The worst part is that my 5-month old was with me and Coletta told me that we would be fine because the tire damage is not that bad! I followed Coletta and demanded some form of help. She finally agreed by saying that there is a Firestone up the street. Coletta wanted me to go there, have them inspect it and make a judgment call as to whether or not her machine had caused this damage. I know that Firestone would never make such a statement, but at least I got a response from her. She gave me her business card with a phone number to call once I got there. I had my wife pick up our son and off I went to Firestone. I took McDowell Road, driving with my flashers on and going about 5 MPH. Wouldn't you know it? 2 blocks up the road, my tire exploded. I immediately called Coletta, to which I got no answer. I left a message, which I still have not received a call back on. So, there I sit, stranded on the side of the road, waiting for my tow truck, mad as can be. All in all, I am out a few hundred dollars. I don't even care about the money. It's the principle. Whatever happened to the customer is always right? I was in no way, shape or form trying hustle this establishment. I am just disappointed that Coletta can get away with this. If I had the time, I would love to take them to Small Claims Court and let the judge decide. For the time and effort (and gray hairs) of going to court, I would rather eat the cost of the tire. Part of me thinks Coletta knows the trouble of actually going to court for the normal white-collar father. She owns a business and going to court does not mean lost income for her. Coletta doesn't need to arrange childcare and spend even MORE money just to get an open day to go to court. While in Firestone, I met the nicest woman. She heard me telling the manager my situation and she offered a wonderful piece of advice. She suggested that I use social media to publicly display the kind of service you will get at Los Olivos. So, here I am Yelp. Writing my first review ever because I got screwed. My only hope is that she will lose $300 in business because people would consider going somewhere else. That was the worst $300 car wash I have ever gotten.
