Great selection of about 40 flavors or so at any given time, with different ones coming in and out of the rotation regularly. One of the hallmarks of good gelato is smoothness, i.e. lack of ice tiny granules that permeate normal ice cream. Smoothness varies at Amato depending on the flavour: dulce de leche is super smooth, the ones with alcohol such as chocolate Grand Marnier or Malaga are smooth too, as are the sugar free generally...but the fruit based ones are less smooth. All really good from a flavor perspective though. A small selection of baked goods and panini to accompany their coffee are also available, in case for some crazy reason gelato isn't enough.
Besides cones and cups, the store has a variety of ice cream novelties prepackaged in the self-serve freezers near the till. If you're going as a couple though, getting a hand-packed 500mL tub with a combo of any three flavours that strike your fancy is really the best bang for your buck. Take your booty outside to the couple dozen roadside patio seats in the summer, or stay in the purely functional inside seating during the winter...if you're lucky there might be a premier league game on the TV.
