| - I heard about this "oh so amazing" patisserie; it was literally on my way home this particular June day, so I decided to take a gander and see what all the fuss was about. I do NOTTT get what the hype is about...I agree the macarons are moderately divine...that Rose macaron OMGoodness...their other pastries are not so spectacular, not in the least. Yes, they offer a large selection in a VERY easy to see display counter. I can appreciate that. But everything else can use a bit of sprucing up. The girls that work there waddle helter-skelter behind the counter. This is not a cafe I'd go completely out of my way to visit, but if like in the past it is in my path, I would patronize the cute little establishment.
FAST FORWARD...I wrote my initial review based on my first and only visit, rating them a whopping 2 stars. I went on a bakery adventure Queen West and revisited this previous disappointment. BOY ARE SECOND CHANCES NECESSARY!! I live a MISSION & a HALF away from Nadege, but that doesn't stop me like it should a normal human being. In the past 10 days, I've been here 6 times to put my loyalty and addiction in perspective. Their macarons are the BEST in the city. I can confidently say I've tried 85% of all macarons in the city. Not only did they hit the head of the nail with the flavours, but the consistency and texture are impeccable. Absolutely unmatched. I cannot more adamantly recommend these macarons. ALSO, O M G. If there was someone I could distinctly blame and sue for my weight gain, and newly developed addiction...hands down, all fingers point to their IMPOSSIBLY DELICIOUS ALMOND CROISSANT. They speak volumes for themselves. I don't know what they're doing to these damn almond croissants, but I'm almost certain there's crack in 'em! Second to none in the city of Toronto. I stand firmly by my bold statement. Make no mistake about these burnt looking croissants, if you even dare think you have self control and believe croissants hold no sway over you, walk away. Walk away right now, and crawl back into the arrogant hole from whence you came. You will capitulate to the effulgence of these celestial crack-almond croissants.
Nadege; Heaven. It's one in the same.
