  • This review is for the Emergency Room and Intermediate Care only after my mom fell in her bathroom and could not move. I knew my brother and I couldn't help, so he called 9-11. Three firemen responded in 3 minutes, deciding she needed to be taken by ambulance to the nearest available emergency room. Our first choice was Mountainview Hospital since it is the closest. And we had very good experience there before. But, according to the ambulance drivers, they were told, "We cannot accept any ambulances tonight. Our emergency room is full of people with the flu. The driver said they probably didn't get their flu shot, and thankfully I did a month before. So we headed over to the next closest ER, Centennial Hills hospital where we hated it years ago. I was skeptical about this. Suprisingly, the Emergency room did a very nice job. We arrive at 1 AM. The nurse got my mom into a bed right away. In about 15 minutes, the calm but focused physician spoke to us. He prescribed some pain meds right away, and my mom was able to sleep. They checked up on her regularly, she got x rayed, blood tested, and in a few hours, the doc said her reviewed the test results and decided they'd keep her for observation for a day or two. It ended up being a 5 day observation in intermediate care, and overall they did a nice job. While my mom slept in emergency, I sat next to her to send some emails to relatives about what happened using the hospital's their free wi-fi. They could've done a TV episode here! The ER had a constant flow of people with all kinds of medical and even mental issues. There was a young female patient nearby who passed out on drugs and binge drinking. They had other people who fell, had the flu and other illnesses, and even one crook who got injured breaking into a house, with police and security observing. And those are just the people within my eye sight. God knows what was going on in the other rooms. In our case, the staff was attentive and professional. The nurses and doc we had were very good. In 6 hours, we were sent to a room in intermediate care. One thing I didn't like was they didn't have a recliner bed in every room. Thankfully, the nurses found one and I was therefore able to sleep comfortably in my mom's room for several days. The food my mom got was OK. The cafeteria was just OK, too but there were lots of fast food restaurants nearby. The medical care my mom got was realy good. This was such a great improvement from our last visit here.
