I am so sorry that I have to do this , because I do love the store and it is sad that one bad apple ruined the bunch.
I recently went in to the JC Penny store at christ town mall where I saw a lovely out side umbrella / canopy set on clearance. I was touching the item looking for an actual price as the tag only said clearance on it when all of a sudden I hear a stern voice say " Don't touch that " as if I was a child. When I turned around it was a sales associate. I looked at here and said " that is rude don't you think " ? she did not reply, shrugged her shoulders . Then I went off to tell her that it should be okay to touch it especially because I wanted to buy it . She said that someone was in line buying it and that she would appreciate it if we didn't touch it anymore. I had sensed that she was lying so I told her " well I am going to wait right here beside the item because if the person buying it changes their mind I want to be next to purchase it" then she replied " well they're not in the store right now but they are going to return to purchase the item tomorrow " this infuriated me because obviously this lady was lying to me . Why would you say someone is in line right now then say they are not, but going to return later? When I am a paying customer with money willing to buy it here right now. I tried talking to a manager, but of course they said not one was available because they were dealing with a code ADAM. I tried contacting corporate by leaving an email but 3 months later still no response.
