| - It's taken me a while to write this review because I didn't want to write it seething mad. However, its been three months and the experience is still on my mind so I have to get it off my chest.
I was so excited to take our close friends and family to Angels Trumpet to celebrate my husband's graduation. Angels is a local spot, and since we were downtown residents I wanted to make sure we took them to a special place. Some of our guests had never eat there and it had been on their "must visit" list for a while.
After my husband's graduation ceremony we made our way to Angels. We were taking a group of 9 people to celebrate his day.
We ordered our food and everything was fine until my dad tried his food. He took a few bites out of one of the chicken legs and was turned off. He asked my father in law next sitting to him to take a bite out of another leg and my father in law was turned off as well. I didn't try it, but if it was enough for both these men to not want to take another bite, I decided to notify our waiter and hopefully exchange it for something else or maybe just take it back to the kitchen in case it wasn't cooked correctly.
The waiter seemed fine at first, but then when he went to consult management he came back with a much different attitude. He came back very snarky and patronizing because two of the legs were bitten into. He said that since they had eaten "half" of the order that they couldn't do anything about it. Okay, back up for a moment. My dad took a bite and then my father in law took a bite of another leg to see if the taste was just my dad's dislike or if the chicken was really bad. It's NOT like my dad ate half his plate and decided he was full and wanted to get a free out of it.
My dad is a little more passive than I. He didn't want to make it a big deal so he placed another order for a different dish. I was seething!!!!!! My dad basically gave his place double his business because his first dish was awful. This waiter was going to make us pay for the awful chicken, and had the nerve to get offended that my dad didn't like the chicken. It was as if this waiter was the one who cooked the chicken. Really guy???!!
We were a large group and, no doubt, we were going to be faced with a hefty bill. The least they could have done was not give us a flipping attitude. I decided to look for the manager. Turns out it was the bartender. He told me the same thing the waiter told me. So at this point, it makes sense. The waiter is just relaying same awful attitude and terrible customer service as his boss. In the end, they offered to just let us pay half of the cost of the chicken plate. What a headache and we still paid for half the chicken even though we didn't eat half!!
Look, I don't want to split hairs on what they should have done or what is considered good customer service. But the attitudes of the manager and the waiter were absolutely unacceptable. Thats what made it such a bad experience. Sure one of the dishes was bad, but if they just apologized or did something nice everything would have been fine. I felt bad for our party because we were there to have a great time and Angels' staff was less than accommodating. This restaurant is STINGY, rude, and I don't recommend it to anyone.
