Thank you to Lilly B. for posting the ugly truth about this store!
The PJ's Pet Centre in Yorkdale mall is often crammed with would-be pet owners, squealing over the cute puppies jumping around in their urine and feces laden cages. I always shake my head when I see a little kids' big, naive eyes falling for these little pooches or kittens, and their parents more than happy to dish out the $1000 plus for the breed....
Word to the wise; DO NOT SHOP HERE.
I know someone who once worked there and the stories I have heard sicken me. Yes, they do sell dogs from puppy mills. The puppies are delivered to the pet store in a box no bigger than the size of a basic milk carton and it is not occupied by one dog. No, it often has a dozen puppies JAMMED into that little space. They sell them for a thousand dollars a pop, ensuring good quality breed and upbringing, yet neglect to mention where the dogs have come from.
Take it from a dog owner and animal lover; this is NOT the kind of place you want to invest your money in or give business to, especially when the Humane Society is overflowing with animals. The animals are mistreated, malnourished and many of the puppies are taken away from their mothers before they are supposed to. These puppies often turn out to be "problem" pooches, and no wonder: they never received the proper amount of care and nourishment as babies.
Many may think that you might be saving these animals if you take them away from this store. Wrong. Every dollar that becomes profit for PJ's Pets is another dollar strong supporting the puppy mill industry. This money exchanges hands that are filthy with the wretched way they treat these animals.
Do not support this store in any way.
