| - My younger cousin was visiting from the East Coast and told me about her plans to get her lobes pierced with a friend back home when she returned.....at Claire's. I suggested that mall piercings are bad news bears (I've had four lobe piercings at malls since I was 7) and that the safest place to get any kind of piercing is a place that specializes in piercings ONLY (not cheap plastic tiaras, not One Direction iPhone cases, not BFF 4Eva matchy necklaces) BUT A LEGIT PIERCING JOINT using medical grade sterilization processes.
I've had navel and nostril piercings done at top quality shops in Southern California. I'm also a medical professional so I know what to look for in sanitary practices. Halo's reputation precedes itself and so when my cousin mentioned getting her first piercings, I talked her out of the mall back home and into matching piercings with me at Halo. First, the shop is EXTREMELY clean and well organized. The jewelry is top-shelf and the folks who work there are patient and extremely professional.
My cousin is needle shy despite being a second-degree black belt and all around badass and we were fortunate enough to be pierced by the AMAZING ANA. My cousin was up first and was nervous. Ana made her feel extremely calm, took her time, and made it clear that there is absolutely no rush when making sure lobe piercings are symmetric. Ana even used calipers to measure everything out to be perfectly even between ears. In addition to being super-calming, funny, and patient, Ana is incredibly talented and I was extremely pleased with Halo's dedication to sterile piercing practices.
I was up next to get my first cartilage piercing and explained to Ana that I might be the sticky wicket - not because of fear of pain - but because I use a hearing aid and the spot I wanted pierced sits right next to the edge of my hearing aid. Here is where I will tell you that I handle ears for a living - I'm an audiologist and so I'm naturally persnickety about ears. Ana assured me that she has pierced MANY folks with hearing aids and cochlear implant sound processors and that she would use a specific piercing angle to get the look I was going for without interfering with the hearing aid. IT LOOKS AWESOME! The lovely Ana kindly obliged when we requested to get a photo with her to document my cousin's first piercings.
She is, without a doubt, the finest piercer I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
My cousin and I are both thrilled with our new piercings and our experience at Halo. Now, what to get for my next piercing?????
