  • I've been to Vegas at least more than 10 times and it was during my last visit in early December 2016 that I *finally* got to try that gondola ride! My family would write it off as being too "cheesy and expensive" while my other friends would think it's too tacky and touristy. I wouldn't blame them. So my first time doing this ride was with the No1DP and his mom. It was his mom's first time in Vegas and we wanted to show her how fun Vegas can be, even if it is a bit tacky. The key to our surprisingly pleasant gondola ride was that we rode it during off-season during the first week of December just an hour prior to close. Not only did we not have to wait in line, we were able to get our own private gondola for the shared price for $29/person. Of course this was for the indoor track as there are two tracks and the outdoor track is open seasonally. Who the heck wants to go on a gondola in the low 40's? The place to get the tickets as well as gondola-associated merchandise is located in a store somewhat hidden but as everyone else has said, if you're near a Godiva store you're close. This is also the place where you can get your pictures if they were taken during the ride. The gondolas are electric-powered as the downside of going an hour to close was to see the boats being plugged into outlets to charge for the night. Even with that the gondolier has to do quite a bit of work as not only do they have to steer the boat, they have to sing for you as well as entertain you. Our guy was pretty good - giving us facts about the architecture and interesting things about his job. He sees a few proposals every day. And for those that for some reason want to get married *in* a gondola, there's a package that will have you married in a white gondola with room for the person performing the ceremony and another guest, which is often the videographer. Starts from around at least $1000. Doesn't look like I'll be going to Venice anytime soon but at least I can say I went on a gondola without all the smells associated with real Venice.
