| - Just bought my first handgun from Jim and the experience could not have been any more pleasant. I told Jim I would write down my experience and I am delivering it now.
I am new to the gun scene. Drawn to it because we are living in a scary new world with all the weird things happening all around us. Just don't feel like sitting ducks when something does happen. Wanted to get a handgun for a LONG time but have never felt comfortable walking into any gun stores because I just don't know enough about what I want/need to be able to get any sales people excited enough to spend the time I needed to work with me.
When I found DGS on Yelp today, and when I saw all the raving reviews, I was immediately drawn to read all the details. When I saw they do business by appointment only, I had my doubts, just because I had never seen it before. But then immediately it dawned on me this is exactly what I need because I would have someone's undivided attention during MY APPOINTMENT time. What a concept! And the result could not have been better. I emailed the store about 15 minutes prior to store opening and Jim, the owner, responded within 5 minutes and we had an appointment made for 15 minutes after the store opened. That was efficiency at its best.
I had done some research and felt that I would need to get a Glock 19 due to my small hands, wish for high reliability, and easy of cleaning/maintenance. Jim was very patient with me and showed me 8 or 10 different models which really expanded my horizon and quite frankly confused me too. However, he carefully guided me towards his favorite and I ended up choosing a Sig Sauer P320. While I had no idea what kind of winner of a gun this gun really was, after I Googled for some reviews, I was extremely thrilled I got this gun because it is EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR without even knowing about it! I also did not know how good of a deal he gave me until I found out it is about $200 below MSRP! I went out the door with background check, enough ammo to break in the gun, and sales tax while still $50 below MSRP for the gun itself. Needless to say I will definitely be going back from now on to get whatever he is willing to sell me.
All in all Jim spent about 90 minutes with me and at no time made me feel stupid or inferior or rushed into making a purchase. More like a friend sharing a worthwhile find. I would say the overall experience is worth paying additional money for let alone getting a discount in the process. Being in the sales business myself, it is hard to impress me and exceed my expectation during any sales process and Jim managed to accomplish exactly that.
Just so you know, I was an actual paying customer and did not receive any promotional items or additional discounts as compensation for this glowing review.
