  • Before all of the self-serve yogurt spots started popping up aroundVegas, Golden Spoon was my go-to dessert spot. I've since moved away from a close Golden Spoon but I visited recently and noticed some things have changed! They've definitely upgraded their ingredient list to rival the competition, adding things like strawberry popping pearls and mochi. They also have new items like smoothies and breakfast. Seems like a mix of Tropical Smoothie and U-Swirl now. I kind of miss the previous simplicity honestly but I get that they have to stay relevant. One thing they don't seem to have upgraded is the number of yogurt flavors they offer. On the night I visited nothing really stood out to me (pistachio was always my favorite back in the day) so I ordered a vanilla yogurt with mochi and rainbow sprinkles. The bad part of Golden Spoon now would be that I figure most people are used to putting their own toppings on here you're limited to whatever the worker gives you. The good thing though is that Golden Spoon's yogurt is a lot denser than the self serve places and it doesn't seem to melt as fast. Another good thing? They have hot toppings like fudge. In the end I do think I prefer this non self serve method. You don't end up putting every topping that looks appealing into your bowl and you're aware you can only fit so much. It's nice to have an old fashioned frozen yogurt spot, even if they're trying to keep up with the times.
