  • I am usually not attracted to the types of artisan jewelry pieces typically sold in stores in touristy spots, as those types of pieces tend to cater to the most common denominator and/or are too artsy-craftsy-obviously homemade things that I just don't really find chic or worthwhile. Well, they're usually not my style, anyhow. I'm a more modern type of gal, and I prefer a more contemporary aesthetic. Well, there were a TON of things I loved in this artisan store (or "gallery"). The jewelry was stunning (pricey, yes, but for handmade pieces that are of high quality and not mass-produced, I think reasonable). Much of the jewelry was modern (which I love). And there were some Montreal-oriented prints and ceramic coasters with photos or old black-and-white photos of the city from years past - all of which I thought were great. There were a ton of clothes and accessories in the rear half of the store. Again, these were handmade items, most of which were not my style at all (a little too embellished for my tastes), but hey, there's an audience for everything, and many of the customers in the store at the time (and I visited this store multiple times this past summer) were all fawning over the shawls and hats and scarves, etc. There were many locally-made bath and body lotions and potions, most of which were packaged beautifully. This would be a great store to find gifts for one's hard-to-please friends. Or yourself. Or me! I'm already looking forward to re-visiting this place when I next visit the city (hopefully this coming summer).
