  • As Queen St. rent goes up and up, these mom and pop convenience stores are something to appreciate just being there and staying in business. As Tux n Wally art gallery/ice cream/hot dog cart/record store business next door goes under, Brother's Discount Mart soldiers on, hanging in there to sell a few basic items in a landscape dominated by big names in the retail business. You'll know the place when the fantastic mural depicting a streetcar on Queen W. comes into view as you are traveling west along Queen past Augusta. Brothers is a cool enough name, and that fact clicked in as I watched a tourist take a picture of their sign. The candy selection is generous, and they have an ATM. A friendly place in the neighbourhood, let's hope it lasts!
