  • So I dropped in to Euro because I needed some last minute flowers for a good friend of mine who was feeling a little under the weather. My first impression walking into Euro was that the shop is fairly clean but it's a little empty, not much decor but they had some cut flowers. The lady who served me definitely wasn't one the most personable individuals I've ever met, barely cracked a smile unlike the baby who was sitting in the back office. It started crying when she came out to help me but then I moved a little closer to where the baby could catch a glimpse of me and it stopped crying. I made a funny face and he/she smiled. Maybe it was just my looks that it found amusing, who knows! The one thing I never understood (not the baby smiling at me) is how business owners, especially in a service industry could have no personality. Back to my flowers... I chose a few assorted flowers I thought would brighten up my friends day. None of the cut flowers had prices on them which worried me but I figured how bad could it be. Once I was done with my selections, I was asked how I was going to pay. I mentioned "cash" and I was told the total would be $40. That seemed a little pricey based on the flowers I chose and based on my past experiences at other flower shops but what was one to do?! I then mentioned that I'd need a receipt as well and her demeanour became as cold as the fridge from where my flowers came from. I guess she thought that "cash" meant I didn't require a receipt. She didn't dare mention that my total would be an extra $5 because of the tax but that's what my receipt showed once she rang me up. Still ended up paying the original $40. Friendly, personable and customer focused service is important to me regardless of what I purchase, and price is secondary when you have all those factors. But in this case, overpriced flowers and poor, 'cold' service. I think I'll just stick with my fav little flower shop a few minutes away, they never disappoint.
