| - After the hype surrounding the Cosmopolitan and its buffet, I was finally able to make it down to try it. I must say I was less than impressed. Granted, it was on a weekday, at lunch time, and around 1300 (lunch service stops at 1400).
I was curious to tyr this new concept of "tapas buffet", in the end I don't think it worked out very well. The serving size is actually more than I usually get. I normally get one or two bites to taste, then go back for more if I like it. The serving sizes were pretty hefty, so it was kind of pointless to put them in small pots or rammekins. I was definitely underwhelmed with the variety, I was expecting all these great dishes that I had been reading about, but I guess those are only brought out for dinner and on weekends. The stuff that was servied didn't seem really special. Three out the four sushi rolls had cream cheese, the pad thai was terrible, the rice noodles and dashi stock was plain....
The worst problems with this buffet were 1. the lack of turn over (I waited all through lunch for tzatziki sauce) and 2. the lack of labels, especially for desserts. Speaking of desserts, a lot fo gooey cakes and parfaits that were too sweet, but there are a good selection of gelatos and berries (blueberries, rasberries, and blackberries frozen and thawed).
Service was okay, slow to start, but it picked up after a bit. Total bill for one weekday lunch buffet was about $25 with tax and tip, which I feel is only so-so given the choices.
