One of the worst climbing gyms I have been to. I am a fairly serious climber and climb 3-4x a week and have climbed in many gyms across the country. While all of them are different, I would say that I've had a positive experience at most all of them. Ape Index was disappointing, to say the least.
Note: This review is more aimed for people who climb on a regular basis. As a first time climber, this place might be an alright option for you. I used to work at a climbing gym part time (and also set routes/etc) and have climbed in a variety of places.
Pros: The price was fairly affordable for the day pass and you also could get gear (harness and shoes) for fairly cheap as an add on.
Cons: The facility was very hot and not air conditioned. The setting was abysmal and you could tell the routes hadn't been changed in a very long time. Tape was falling off the routes and the holds were very slick and greasy. There was no consistency in terms of the route dispersion (the routes were spread out and there was wasted space everywhere). More on the setting: There were little feet anywhere, there were few options in terms of easy-moderate routes, and the overall moves made no sense (I am nowhere close to a professional climber, but we can generally do most 11s-12s in the gym and have a lot of experience).
Overall, I would never climb here as a regular. This might be a good option if you have a lot of friends and are a part of the community, but as far as a facility for a serious rock climber, I would find another place.
