DO NOT USE COX IF YOU CAN!!!! They are absolutely ridiculous. We transferred service to our new home as of a specific date. We decided we would do it ourselves instead of paying the $60 fee to have them do it (they told me the difference was if they sent a tech out it would cost us money, if we did self installation it would be free). Needless to say, 5 days after our scheduled transfer we still did not have cable. Then they told me that I needed to go to a local store and switch out my box. I finally said no, they needed to send a technician out. A technician came out and did absolutely NOTHING and charged us $60. They said it's their "self activation fee". Why would you have a fee for your customer to be charged for them to do it THEMSELVES?? We were promised a credit to our account of $35 for not having cable for 5 days and never received it. Now we are fighting this $60 fee to our account which I'm sure they won't end up crediting us anyways.
Moral of the story, go to CenturyLink for your internet and stick to DirecTV for your TV (cable/satellite) if you can. I can not wait to be done with this company for GOOD! $190/month for tv and internet is absurd.
