  • My theme of this review is a shout out to my boy Drake because it's one of "The Best I Ever Had" and you'll read why. Located in the most unpretentious hotel, not on the glamorous side of the Strip, Vic & Anthony's is a hidden gem within a hidden gem. Sure, I was apprehensive but V&A's is Michelin rated, granted it's just one star but, that's one more than most of the restos on the Strip. First off, do your research, check out their menu on the Golden Nugget website and make reservations. They offer a prix fixe menu, which is a super deal. It comes with your choices of soup or salad to start, three entrees to choose from, a selection of sides and a dessert to share. For $46.95 per person, it's a super deal. If you calculate it, between two people, you're getting one side and the dessert for free. However, you have to know to order this PF deal, as it will not be listed on the menu nor will they offer it to you. Think of it as an exclusive secret society menu...mwahaha! However to start, we ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, which seriously had to be the, "Best CC I Ever Had." Why do I say that? Well, it was jam packed with pieces of lump crab just as the name states, not crab shreds, crab filler or krab with a k. The s/o and I had the Lobster Bisque, which was truly rich and creamy with bits of lobster in it. We both literally licked our respective bowls and used pieces of bread to clean the bowls! This LB was the, "Best LB I Ever Had." I was going to order the Sea Bass but the s/o gave me a dirty look about ordering seafood at a steakhouse. I'm just not a fan of Filet Mignon and it's thick cut but, the s/o's right, it IS a steakhouse. However to my delight, the FM was so tender, juicy and flavorful. Hmm...V&A has made me a believer, maybe I've just had crappy FM in the past? So again, this was the "Best FM I Ever Had." We both got a choice of side, which is big enough for 2-3 people to share. We ordered the Creamed Spinach and Au Gratin Potatoes. Both were not necessarily the, "Best I Ever Had" but both were quite delicious. For dessert, we choose the Croissant Bread Pudding. Wow, there's something about the elegance of a croissant that just made this bread pudding like no other. Instead of being flat and heavy, it was just the opposite. The side of ice cream was a pure delight. So, was this the "Best Bread Pudding I Ever Had?" Damn right! The service was truly outstanding! From the hostess, to our server and other wait staff. My only thing was that the restaurant was really dark, or maybe my eyes are just going bad? V&A is top notch and is worth skipping the toney Strip restos. And in closing, I'm ending this review the same way Drake ended his song, "Best I Ever Had," "See this is the type of joint you gotta dedicate to somebody, make sure it's that special somebody...."
