My husband and I had been looking for a puppy for quite sometime. I spoke with some breeders (most had waitlists), online, kijiji etc. One day we were looking through the top dog website and saw the cutest puppy so we went in to have a look.
They have lots of little "play" areas set up and they do clean them in between. So we sat with this puppy (I had my jacket on). The sales guy was informative, nice, answered all our questions. I KNEW I have allergies so I specifically asked if he was a big shedding dog...I was told "he is low to non-shedding". So we bit the bullet and bought him.
They had a puppy package of food, toy, crate, puppy pads etc that we did buy. So with the dog it was $2000.
We take the little guy home that night, play play play and we all go to bed. The next day I go to work and my husband is with him all day. When I get home...anxious to play with the little guy...I notice the shedding! This was NOT LOW TO NONE SHEDDING DOG. I tried to ignore it and within an hour I'm covered in hives!!
I'm sitting on the couch bawling as I knew we had to take him back. We called the store, they said yes bring him back.
I was so devastated/ crying that we had to take him back that I couldn't even go back in the store. So my husband takes him back. He's upset emotionally as well and comes back out and says they won't give us much of the money back. Because we initialed the allergies part on the contract.
My husband explained that we were told he was a low no shedding puppy but it didn't matter. This store took $1100 dollars from us. They only gave me $800 back.
My husband later called and talked to the manager who said they charge an administration fee. So he asked what the fee includes for $1100!? Which she couldn't explain and the conversation went no where.
So my advice to anyone looking at getting a puppy here...be very careful. They are out for the cash not the happiness of the customer.
