I really want to like any small venue that hosts local concerts, but there are multiple issues that prevent me from offering a positive review. I'll start with some positives. I thought the acoustics were decent and their ability to attract a talent like Zakk Wylde (Zakk Sabbath concert) is impressive. Wylde put on a great show and security did their job and patrons were all pretty cool!
The negatives:
1) Purchased tickets online, but "Will Call" was the same line as buying tickets in person. Arrived at 8pm, but didn't get into the venue until about 9:10pm so I missed part of the opening act. Monster lines to get into the venue.
2) No drinking fountains. So, if you are thirsty for a drink of water either drink out of the bathroom sink or stand in a long line to buy a bottle of water. In AZ not having a drinking fountain is unacceptable.
3) The venue had no air circulation. It was late September and it was very hot! If it were July or August it likely would be unbearable.
4) They never actually give you a ticket at "Will Call". They just check your name off the list and they let you in. If you like to collect your concert ticket stubs you're out of luck at Club Red. Great idea if you want to cut out scalpers, but the long lines and not getting a ticket stub were a negative.
5) it's a dive bar, so don't expect a "nice" club. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.
6) They let concert goers smoke e-cigerettes in the venue. So, lots of attendees vaping throughout the venue including right in front of security throughout the show. Not cool.
