| - We had some money to spend with the Food & Dining Credit at the Bellagio, so we opted for the Prime Steakhouse for beau's birthday dinner. We got to sit front row at the Bellagio Fountains! Unfortunately it was too hot outside, otherwise we might have enjoyed the accompanying music also.
The first bite of everything was super delicious, in fact, I was assured that I had made the right decision on the location. It certainly had a lot of accolades on the website, highly acclaimed and even won 2014 Open Table's award. Bravo! It was love at first bite, and then, sadly, towards the end and 5 glasses of water later, not so much.
The steak was carted in with three signature sauces. I was rather glad they didn't make you choose on the spot and instead, left three small gravy boats for you to try them. Unfortunately the steak was just fine on its own, and the sauce wasn't entirely necessary. Though conclusively we decided that if you need sauce on a steak then something else entirely is prohibiting your experience...
The lamb chops were so divine at first bite, but through it all, about 40% ended up being lamb fat instead of lamb chops, and well, it just couldn't justify the amount spent on the entree. The sauce was overly salted, and thus ended up drinking 5 glasses by the conclusion of the evening. Pretty strange considering there were only three chops.
The sides however were less disappointing, I absolutely loved (and subsequently murdered) the entire ramekin of truffle mash. I highly recommend this even though the entrees themselves seemed lacking. The peas were also divine. A bit cheating with the bacon, but well put together. It was, however, a tad hard to eat due to the different shapes of peas...
Well, besides the truffle mash potatoes, the birthday dessert was divine. They had just made the lava cake and it was perfectly rich without being too sweet. The ice cream was a prefect touch. Very tasty.
Top items: Service, Truffle Mash, Free Dessert.
Needless to say, won't be back. Sure, maybe we ordered the wrong items, but just so you know, a restaurant shouldn't make bad items choices on the menu. Haha.
