I had such high expectations when I made my reservations, having eaten at two other Emeril's restaurants in the past - one in New Orleans and the other in Florida. Both experiences were awesome -- great food and great service. So good that I vowed that whenever I visit a city where there is an Emeril's I would make it a priority to make a reservation and go.
I wish I could say I had the same experience at this Emeril's as I had in the past. The staff were extremely nice but the timing of the service was super slow. There were times when we felt as if they forgot about us. At the other restaurants, the wait staff took care of our needs before we had to ask in a non-intrusive way. I guess they spoiled us. As for my meal, the gumbo had good flavor but the shrimp were small and overcooked. Ordered the scallops. They were a little small and more rubbery than they should have been. Plus, they lacked the "bam" in terms of flavor. Hubby ordered the steak. Nicely done, but not the best he's ever had in terms of flavor.
Overall, we ended up disappointed and let down, especially given the size of the bill. I don't mind paying for good money for good food, but the key word is good. The food and the experience needs to be deserving. Perhaps we caught them on a bad night.
