  • CMU is lucky to have this wonderful coffee shop to caffeinate its students! I enjoyed a great iced coffee that was strong (though a bit pricey) and thankfully not watered down as iced coffee can unfortunately sometimes be. The cafe is in a prime location within the Gates Center and the tech vibe of the school around it translates seamlessly to the minimalist design of the coffee bar and its hipster baristas. There are several tables and areas nearby to study or catch up on work, and you will be surrounded by students doing just that. I did not get a chance to try any of the menu items (they have salads, paninis, etc.) but there were many good looking options as well as some chilled sides available (grains salad, pasta salad, fruit) which are also great lunch alternatives for those in a time crunch. I look forward to coming back! Pro Tip: If you want to nerd out and play with CMU's robot in the lobby just to the left of the cafe, you can play a game of Scrabble against the robot with your latte in hand :)
