Dishes that encourage sharing; small bites with big flavor. Creative food made with love. Decently priced for lunch but can get expensive for dinner - but you can get great drinks at either time!
Long review:
This place actually gave a very bad first impression when we first stopped by for lunch - it was closed during its posted opened business hours online, with a sign that says they will be open for dinner. So reluctantly we came back another day for lunch, and we are so glad we did!
The lunch menu is very simple compared to the dinner menu, but the food is wonderful. It's been a while since we've eaten here, but I'll do my best to remember:
A chive dip with chips: light, creamy, and opens the palate for more. Delicious; but still, relatively simple. 4/5
Squash pastry: this thing impressed me a lot, since it got us to eat the vegetables on the table without seeming like we were eating vegetables. It was pretty great. Hubby did not enjoy it as much as I did. 3.9/5
Summer salad: I loved this salad. I don't remember quite what was in it, but it had greens, pomegranates, and strawberries. Yum. 4.5/5
Pork Belly: OMG, this thing is so delicious. Originally it was meatball of some kind on the menu, but they subbed this out because they ran out of it in the back and I'm glad they did! It came in a broth that was packed with flavor! This is the dish that made me love this place and we didn't even order it! 5/5
Chicken Greek wrap: It's ok. We were really full by then, but it was basically a well-made chicken wrap. 3.5/5
Dessert: I don't recall what it was called, but it was caramel on the bottom and cream on the top, and I could lick this thing clean. 4.5/5
We went back for dinner, and we had some very delicious food; but some not so impressive dishes as well.
Fried chickpeas: about the only thing neither my husband nor I cared for here. It really did not have much flavor, but it came out greasy anyway. 1/5
Heirloom tomato salad: YUM. Big flavors, wonderful comeback. Fresh and vibrant, with the tomatoes speaking up on their own. 4.5/5
Pasta: this was really good here. Noodles were straw like and came in a marinara sauce, topped with cheese - it gave us a feeling of a wonderful home cooked meal from Italy. 4.5/5
Lamb: Not my favorite. It was a very greasy dish; grilled lamb chops over eggplant. I couldn't eat too much of this, but it did have great flavor. 3/5
Overall, impressive. A must try for people who like food. I would advise going at lunch; even with the smaller menu, it was delicious.
