| - We had a fantastic stay at the stratosphere, just like we always do. I've read other reviews, so let me attempt to clear some things up if you are thinking of staying here:
If you've been browsing hotels, you've seen they average $150 - $300 a night on weekends. The Stratosphere is usually much cheaper than this, and there's a reason. This is not 5 star, the furniture is not made of mahogany, and there won't be a butler to powder your bunghole.
However, for the cheap price, this is a great place to stay if you're on a budget. The remodeled select rooms are a MUST!! The cheaper deluxe rooms are outdated and quite ugly, but the select rooms are very, very nice in comparison. Pay the extra few dollars a night and stay in the select room, you won't regret it.
Be aware that this hotel is at the end of the strip, away from all the action. A cab ride is necessary, unless you're up for a bit of a hike (roughly 1.5 miles to where the action begins). I prefer this location. Vegas is VERY crowded on the center of the strip, and I hate trying to navigate through crowds all day and night. The Stratosphere is much more mellow, with quick bar/restaurant service as a result. If you WANT to be immersed in the chaos non-stop, don't stay at the Strat. If you want to return to your hotel and have it be less chaotic, consider the Strat.
If on a budget, the casino is perfect. $5 minimums on table games and endless slots. Keep in mind that while places like The Bellagio and Aria are much nicer, you will be forced to place much higher bets ($25 minimums on many tables).
All in all, I hope this all paints an accurate picture of what you should expect. I recommend this hotel.
