| - An extremely nice hotel!! I got the opportunity to actually stay in the Hyatt last week while on a business trip to the area, and I was quite taken aback at the integration of the hotel into the Arcade. I had visited Cleveland and the Arcade once before a few years ago, and got the chance to dine in the Arcade and appreciate its construction; but this time I got to appreciate being a resident, if only for a little while. Very neat!
The actual rooms to the hotel are pretty large, and are reminiscent of a small suite - work/desk area quite distant from the bed/nightstands/TV area, large windows, comfortable beds - overall a very nice setup. At night, a LOT of light enters through the sides of the window curtains (based on the location of your room, it may be better/worse), so if you think about it, a sleep mask might help with that. Aside from that, it's relaxing and quiet (but just keep in mind that anyone entering the hotel could potentially walk through the Arcade and make noise, and chances are you'll hear it in your room if loud enough...), and I think worth a stay.
The Hyatt is located on Superior Avenue, and one cool thing about it is that the front entrance/exit faces Superior, but the back entrance/exit puts you right near East 4th Street which I discovered is the location of the E. 4th Neighborhood, which boasts several restaurants and night spots (e.g., House of Blues). So for those looking for nearby spots to check out nighttime downtown Cleveland, the convenience is phenomenal. (Some work buddies and I got a chance to visit Flannery's bar in that neighborhood and we enjoyed the opportunity. Check it out... And speaking of convenience, the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame is only several blocks away as well, which is very much worth checking out.)
Verdict - very much worth a stay at this extremely well-done hotel. But KC, you say, why only 4 stars? Well, although I was on a business trip and the company paid the hotel expense, I did check online and found that prices can sometimes reach the $200 range on an average visit (i.e., no conventions, etc. going on). So when considering value, I've stayed in many hotels that were incredible (more so than the Hyatt Regency) that didn't reach anywhere close to that mark. Coupling that notion (4 stars) with my hotel stay/experience (5 stars), since there are no "halves" 4 stars it is.
