| - This place is awesome.
I'm not super into most 'fitness' brands and most 'fitness' clothing - and it's true, not everything in this place is my style. I have recently started doing yoga and pilates almost every day, and I have until now been using American Apparel/etc cotton tights and shirts and just washing all the damn time. I came here wanting workout gear - or, at least, clothing that would stand up to wear and sweat, but not look super gym/fitness-buff-ish - I wanted something that looked like 'normal clothing' (whatever that means, ha, but I think you know what I'm getting at), something that ppl wouldn't be able to tell, 'Oh that shirt is like, super optimized for a zillion sweats' just based on the cut or style. Amanda helped me out when I was here, she is AWESOME and absolutely fabulous! She explained to me a lot of things about the company (which apparently stands for 'live out loud every day') and also that all of the advertising features their fitness ambassadors, rather than models, which I thought was super interesting and impressive. I told her what I was going for in terms of use and look, and also what looks good on my figure, and she picked out some stuff that was absolutely perfect, and told me about the differences in the fabrics and which items are more workout wear and which are more 'lifestyle.'
I got two awesome chill shirts which I can just wear with jeans and not look out of place walkin' down the street, and two pairs of the most amazing tights I have set my eyes upon. They are capris and high waisted and make asses look RIDICULOUSLY EPIC. Seriously. The Lululemon yoga pants ain't got nothing on these things, I always feel like a million bucks when I am wearing them (and they are comfy to work out in too) - if some tights make you look like you have a slumpy bum check these out. Amanda explained to me a bit about the cut, which is unique in the store's line of tights, and the cut really does do a lot. I will definitely be back - I hope they make the high waisted capris in ankle-length tights too. Considering going back to buy the same cut but in bike shorts length. :) Probably will when summer hits!
Don't be intimidated by the fact that this place is in Yorkville. I never hang out in Yorkville, I am a weird tattooed artist type, but the vibe in this store is super chill and accessible, and staff is SO friendly and knows the stock really well! I think 'hipsters' (ugh hate that word) and also Bay exec types will both be able to find something to wear at this store, strangely enough. (Ass capris, duh.)
I know they also have some fitness related events for free in the store, I heard about yoga and pilates and some raw food thing, so I am going to try to keep my ear to the ground about that stuff, I haven't been to any of those events yet.
