For a school with such high tuitions and a claim to be within the top ten universities in the world... the experience can at times be like a joke. Other times, it's as if the school is designed to have the most ineffective and stressful beyond belief system of daily operations in order to try your patience.
Buying material for your courses might be one of the worst. The mistakes the professors make, costing a lot of money from students (who often can't afford these mistakes) are barely apologized for. Why, I wonder, were the textbooks not chosen properly in allllll the time that the professors had before September started? Why were some also required at literally the day before school started? It resulted in chaos and a mass of frustration. However, the poor people who work for the school are also not to blame, since they really are totally powerless. They can't fix the ineffective POS's, or the return policies, or the stock levels, etc etc etc.
Bottom line: University of Toronto is trying very hard to put its students into the lunatic asylum. The fun has just begun. Welcome back to school!
