| - I have been going to this dental facility, under the name of Southwest Dental, for 25 years, and over the years I noticed it was becoming more of an "efficient" business proposition in which the staff were becoming more skilled as a "sales team." Since it changed ownership and became Gentle Dental, they have really ramped up the sales pitches. Now, every time I go, I supposedly have a new issue that needs a new kind of expensive treatment. Recently the owner/dentist, told me I needed a crown. To his credit, my regular dentist there, Dr. Kenneth Thompson, looked things over and concluded I didn't need a crown. He filled a small cavity and I was fine. But the last time I went for a routine dental cleaning, they insisted I have a several hundred dollar de-scaling and laser treatment (or some such thing) BEFORE they would give me my regular teeth cleaning. I let them know I was done with them. Now I have to find a dentist that isn't a "big business," and apparently the best dentists reviewed on Yelp don't take my insurance plan. Sigh.
Bottom line: The Gentle Dental team provides very good work, but they may be selling you more good work than you need--and it isn't cheap! So, two stars for good work, but minus 3 for the corporate growth and profit priority.
