I first heard of Erie Island Coffee Company when I bought a bag of their signature blend from Heinen's. I liked it and always see this place when I'm at Planet Fitness so it's been in the cards for a while now. They also sell pretty big bags of their coffee at Costco, which I thought is pretty cool.
The decor in here is A+. Tons of bright windows, cozy seating, and a double-sided fireplace make this seem like the ideal spot to post up in the winter into your own personal snowglobe. They have glass garage doors that I'm assuming they open in the summer and also burlap coffee bags hanging over the skylights to dim some of the sun out.
My roommate and I decided to check this place out after a lackluster work out but prior to a makeup haul- so a local coffee shop was obviously needed on our quest to fulfill our "basic" stereotype. They have a pretty small menu and we both ended up getting the same thing (BASIC!) - the club crush panini. I will say it was quite delicious and 10/10 would buy again. The bread was nice and crunchy but not stab your mouth crunchy and the toppings were all warm and gooey.
I ordered a plain black coffee (apparently that makes you statistically more likely to be a serial killer), and my roommate ordered a macchiato. Typically I shy away from fancy sounding drinks because I'm lactose intolerant (they have two dairy alternatives here!) and just prefer plain black coffee. Well, my roommate is an avid Starbucks aficionado and we learned an important lesson that day. What Starbucks serves as a "macchiato" is actually a "latte macchiato" aka a full drink and what a "macchiato" really is a an expresso shot with foamed milk. My roommate was quite flustered, as she has been turned into a Starbucks zombie and couldn't believe she was misinformed and that her beloved Starbucks had it's own nomenclature, but I thought the staff handled it pretty well.
Also, for my fellow eco-nerds, there's a recycling bin in the back, though I think they should have one in the front too.
