  • This hotel is pretty nice for the price (we used our RCI points in order to stay during the 4th of July week- Friday-Friday). It's a bit off the beaten path, which is not a problem during the cooler months, but during the summer it's not an ideal walk to any casino. It is pretty close to the MGM and taking a taxi runs about $11-15 dollars if you go to Planet Hollywood or LINQ. When we arrived the shuttle was down and they had it back running 4 days later. However, as other reviewers have said, it is very inconsistent so it's either drive (which we did a lot) or take a taxi. Just make sure you tell the taxi to take you the back way to the casinos / hotel and NOT the strip. If they know that you are a tourist and unfamiliar with the area, they will take as long as possible. We had great drivers and never had an issue. The hotel: Check in went very smoothly and the manager was extremely friendly, professional and helpful. We were told to go to Guest Services for our "free gift" and "parking pass". Some advice: you don't need a parking pass, especially for the back area of the hotel where all the shops and restaurants are located. Forget the free gift, it is just a way to get you to their timeshare presentation. If you want to go, then cool, but we have been there and done that and wouldn't purchase through the BG club anyway. Lots of people that came in for the presentation came out very unhappy (we heard more than our fair share of comments about the hard sales pitch). Even though we skipped the Guest Services portion that DID NOT keep them from calling our room 10 minutes after we arrived up until we left. We received between 5-9 calls a day, sometimes 3 in less than an hour. Calls begin at 9am and end in the evening. I only picked up once and was greeted with "Hi, I am Jessica from GS, I noticed you didn't pick up your free gift or your parking pass. Is everything OK?" I let her know that all was good and to have a nice day. The end. We ended up turning down the ringer and unplugging the phone when we wanted peace and quiet. The Room: It is a very nice room (we had the one with a full kitchen, washer /dryer and could fit 4) and for 2 people it was very accommodating. We loved having 2 showers (one complete bathroom and one with an amazing walk in shower with two heads / bench). The kitchen was more than adequate although I am not sold on the duel Microwave / convection oven. The bad: Everything is so uncomfortable. The bed was hard as stone so trying to sleep, you either had to lay on your back or front. Laying on one's side make for a numb hip. The couch is also very hard as far as the arms and the seating part is soft and weird (from it being a pull out bed). The dryer is an "evaporative" dryer which is what we had at one point while we lived in Germany. You have to keep emptying the "bladder" when it gets full of water as it evaporates and collects water from the clothes. A normal dryer will take maybe 45-50 minutes. This dryer takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours for each load. It also results in a humid room and smells a bit like a foot. The AC was good, especially in the living room. Not so much in the bedroom. In all, the humidity and damp smell was a turn off. We would possibly stay here again, but the Wyndham is preferable with their separate kitchen, nice layout and proximity to Planet Hollywood.
